BAD MAN'S BLUNDER Kingston Trio

    E
1.)Early one evening I was rollin' around
2.)Early in the morning 'bout the break of day
3.)When I was arrested didn't have a dime
4.)Well, I didn't have a key and I didn't have a file
5.)It was a most unsatisfactory trail

                                      B7 E
I was feelin' kind of mean I shot a deputy down
I figured it was time to make my get away
The sheriff says, "Son, you're ridin' free this time."
Naturally, I stayed around until my trail
They gave me ninety nine years on the hard rock pile
E
Strollin' on home and I went to bed
Steppin' right along but I was a stepping to slow
"Where you're going you won't need a cent
The judge was and old man ninety three
Ninety and nine on the hard rock ground
E B7 E
Well, I laid my pistol up under my head
Got surrounded a sheriff down in Mexico
Cause the great state of Texas gonna pay your rent."
And I didn't like the way the jury looked at me.
All I ever did was shoot a deputy down
A
He strolled on home (I took my time)
He was steppin' right along ( I were hot footin' it)
Cause where you're going (I think he means jail)
Well, the judge was and old man (Too Old)
Ninety and nine (It could have been life)
 E
And he went to bed (Thought I'd sleep some)
But he was steppin' too slow (It was a sultry day)
You won't need a cent (Well he knows I'm broke)
Ninety three (Entirely too old)
On the hard rock pile (They might a hung me)
B7
And he laid his pistol (big twenty two)
Got surrounded by a sheriff (Boxed in)
Cause the great state of Texas (Yippee)
I didn't like the way-ay-ay
All he ever did-id-id-id
              E
Up under his head (I keep it handy)
In Mexico ( I didn't even have a chance to see the country)
Is gonna pay your rent (I'm mighty grateful fellows)
the jury looked at me (I think they were suspicious)
                    E A B7 E
was shoot a deputy down-own-own-own
